But we thought it might also be helpful to see how practicing coaches are putting their Health Coach<\/span> certificate training into action building successful careers and changing the world.<\/p>\n

Below you\u2019ll find three stories from graduates of Health Coach Institute\u2019s Become a Health Coach<\/span><\/strong><\/em> (BHC) program. They\u2019re sharing how they\u2019ve created successful businesses and are inspiring change in the world through the work they do with their clients.<\/p>\n

Health Coach: Kathy Murphy, 2017 BHC Graduate<\/h2>\n

\"\"Kathy Murphy calls herself a Bold, Badass Lifestyle Coach.<\/p>\n

But before that, she had overcome a lifetime\u2019s worth of challenges. She\u2019d endured Lyme disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, the death of her parents, divorce, and a stressful 32-year career.<\/p>\n

Then, in January of 2016, Kathy, an avid surfer, took off on a wave and slammed down onto her head. She came to, swallowing a ton of water. She looked up and could see her board, but her body wouldn\u2019t move. Her life passed before her eyes and she felt disappointment because she thought God had a bigger plan for her.<\/p>\n

But then she felt an invisible force reach down and grab her, pull her out of the water and onto her board. In that moment, she knew two things: her mom had helped her and God did still have a plan for her.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when Kathy went looking for her purpose and found HCI. She looked through the BHC curriculum and something clicked. She enrolled and graduated from BHC, then went on to enroll in HCI\u2019s HMBA Mastery<\/strong><\/em> program.<\/p>\n

Kathy says that this process transformed her. \u201cBHC was what I needed to share my gifts with the world. It challenged me personally. The inner work is a challenge, but it\u2019s one of the greatest gifts we have.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kathy entered HCI\u2019s $10k in 10 Weeks Challenge, where coaches are challenged to devote time and attention to their business and earn $10,000 (or more!) in just 10 weeks.<\/p>\n

Kathy went all in. She knew she had to do it to be the coach she wanted to be. She went from calling herself a Health Coach<\/span> to calling herself a Bold and Badass Lifestyle Coach. She increased her prices and ended up making more than $13,000.<\/p>\n

Kathy learned that she had to take what she loves and what she values most\u2014the ocean, surfing, and helping others, and pour it into her coaching.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever my client\u2019s big wave is, we turn fear into excitement and I encourage them to play full out in their big life waves, doing what they love and creating their dream life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kathy now helps her clients turn their fear into excitement, both in and out of the ocean. She works with young girls, aged 12-15, at the Mary Osborne Surf Camp, where she teaches leadership and life skills to girls through surfing.<\/p>\n

Kathy also went on to be the grand prize winner of HCI\u2019s $10k in 10 Weeks Challenge, and was presented with $10,000 at the spring 2018 HCI Live event. Kathy plans to use that money to create a scholarship program that will ensure every girl from 12-15 has an opportunity to participate in the program, creating the opportunity to make their lives better and powerful leaders of the future.<\/p>\n

Says\u00a0Kathy, \u201cWe are never too old, sick, or tired to start again and create our dream life. When we truly connect with what we want, anything is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Health Coach: Scott Leeper, 2018 BHC Graduate<\/h2>\n

\nScott Leeper started his career in the Marine Corps. After his father passed away, Scott dealt with some difficult transitions in his life, including struggles with alcohol, a temporary separation from his wife, being forced out of the military, and dealing with his father\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Dealing with all of those challenges, particularly the death of his father, taught Scott a mental strength he\u2019d never had before. He says, \u201cI was in a hole, expecting someone to pull me out of that hole. But what I came to realize is that people were trying to give me the rope, but I had to pull myself out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott realized he wanted to get his life and his health back on track. He eventually decided to become a Health and Life Coach<\/span>. He enrolled in BHC and graduated in 2018. Scott launched a coaching business to help people gain different perspectives and change their mindsets.<\/p>\n

Scott realized that you can\u2019t expect someone to walk into a gym and just immediately change their lifestyle without first changing their mindset. He believes Health and Life Coaching<\/span> gives people much better results than just focusing on nutrition<\/span> or an exercise plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can teach people to pick things up and put them down all day long; however, if that person does not have it in their mind to truly make certain habit or lifestyle changes, as soon as life throws a curveball at them…they will go right back to where there were.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott works with men specifically, because he believes men need coaches to help them break barriers down and follow their dreams. He helps his clients change their habits and mindset, and offers a 90-day Total Transformation program and a 14-Day cleanse.<\/p>\n

Scott says that he\u2019s a totally different person now and lives with an \u201cattitude of gratitude\u201d, finding positivity in all situations. He is happy because he is controlling the path of his life.<\/p>\n

Health Coach: Rachel Beck, 2016 BHC Graduate<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Rachel had a stressful career in HR, but when she experienced a sudden job change, she took time off to start walking, running, and improving her nutrition<\/span> to address symptoms she was suffering from Hashimoto\u2019s disease. She also took time to reflect on what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She wasn\u2019t sure she wanted to go back to a job in HR.<\/p>\n

One day, her daughter asked her what she thought she should do when she grew up. Rachel said, \u201cWell, whatever you do, honey, I just want it to make your heart sing.\u201d Her daughter then asked, \u201cMommy, is what you\u2019re doing making your heart sing?\u201d Rachel thought, Oh no! I can\u2019t answer that question!
\n<\/em>
\nRachel had spent months before this time transforming her own health and wellness and had seen some posts on Facebook about Health Coaching<\/span>. She thought, Wait a minute, if I love to help other people, and I love this health and wellness stuff, what can I do with that?<\/em> So she reached out to a former colleague who works at HCI and she said, \u201cYou\u2019d be a great coach! This is so right up your alley. It\u2019s everything you\u2019ve been doing for yourself but you can pull in your HR experience. You have to do this!\u201d<\/p>\n

Rachel looked into coaching programs and ultimately ended up choosing BHC. She successfully completed the BHC program and set off with her plan to coach working moms and kids. She has a client list full of busy moms and is the chair of the wellness committee at her kids\u2019 elementary school. Rachel works with clients to discover the \u201cwhy\u201d behind their motivation to make changes, then helps them focus on their goals, providing support and accountability to help them follow through.<\/p>\n

Rachel has built a career that revolves around her and her family\u2019s busy life. She begins work after taking her son and daughter to school and is done by the time she picks them up. During her working hours, she works with clients and also spends time growing her business. The best part is that Rachel has time to focus on the personal things that also bring her joy. She makes time for working out and says she\u2019s much more in tune with who she is\u00a0and reconnected to her soul.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis work brings tears to my eyes. I get off my coaching calls with my clients and I\u2019ll jump up and say, \u2018I love my job!\u2019 It\u2019s really hard to call it a job because I have so much fun. What I loved about HR was that I could help people. But what frustrated me about HR was, I was helping them with performance reviews [not changing their lives].<\/p>\n

I\u2019m in the driver\u2019s seat again. I\u2019m creating my destiny, I\u2019m changing our family\u2019s legacy, I\u2019m happy, I\u2019m healthy, I feel good, I have energy…so very, very different from who I was before.\u201d<\/p>\n

They\u2019re sharing how they\u2019ve created successful businesses and are inspiring change in the world through the work they do with their clients.\n<h2>Health Coach: Kathy Murphy, 2017 BHC Graduate<\/h2>\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5817\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn5.healthcoachinstitute.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/health-coach_amazing-grads-kathy-murphy-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Kathy Murphy calls herself a Bold, Badass Lifestyle Coach.\n\nBut before that, she had overcome a lifetime\u2019s worth of challenges. She\u2019d endured Lyme disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, the death of her parents, divorce, and a stressful 32-year career.\n\nThen, in January of 2016, Kathy, an avid surfer, took off on a wave and slammed down onto her head. She came to, swallowing a ton of water. She looked up and could see her board, but her body wouldn\u2019t move. Her life passed before her eyes and she felt disappointment because she thought God had a bigger plan for her.\n\nBut then she felt an invisible force reach down and grab her, pull her out of the water and onto her board. In that moment, she knew two things: her mom had helped her and God did still have a plan for her.\n\nThat\u2019s when Kathy went looking for her purpose and found HCI. She looked through the BHC curriculum and something clicked. She enrolled and graduated from BHC, then went on to enroll in HCI\u2019s<em><strong> HMBA Mastery<\/strong><\/em> program.\n\nKathy says that this process transformed her. \u201cBHC was what I needed to share my gifts with the world. It challenged me personally. The inner work is a challenge, but it\u2019s one of the greatest gifts we have.\u201d\n\nKathy entered HCI\u2019s $10k in 10 Weeks Challenge, where coaches are challenged to devote time and attention to their business and earn $10,000 (or more!) in just 10 weeks.\n\nKathy went all in. She knew she had to do it to be the coach she wanted to be. She went from calling herself a <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-de65bd26-726e-4907-9163-dda7735361e7\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/health_coach\">Health Coach<\/span> to calling herself a Bold and Badass Lifestyle Coach. She increased her prices and ended up making more than $13,000.\n\nKathy learned that she had to take what she loves and what she values most\u2014the ocean, surfing, and helping others, and pour it into her coaching.\n\n\u201cWhatever my client\u2019s big wave is, we turn fear into excitement and I encourage them to play full out in their big life waves, doing what they love and creating their dream life.\u201d\n\nKathy now helps her clients turn their fear into excitement, both in and out of the ocean. She works with young girls, aged 12-15, at the Mary Osborne Surf Camp, where she teaches leadership and life skills to girls through surfing.\n\nKathy also went on to be the grand prize winner of HCI\u2019s $10k in 10 Weeks Challenge, and was presented with $10,000 at the spring 2018 HCI Live event. Kathy plans to use that money to create a scholarship program that will ensure every girl from 12-15 has an opportunity to participate in the program, creating the opportunity to make their lives better and powerful leaders of the future.\n\nSays\u00a0Kathy, \u201cWe are never too old, sick, or tired to start again and create our dream life. When we truly connect with what we want, anything is possible.\u201d\n<h2>Health Coach: Scott Leeper, 2018 BHC Graduate<\/h2>\n<img class=\"size-medium wp-image-5811 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn5.healthcoachinstitute.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/health-coach_amazing-grads-scott-leeper-300x248.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"248\" \/>\nScott Leeper started his career in the Marine Corps. After his father passed away, Scott dealt with some difficult transitions in his life, including struggles with alcohol, a temporary separation from his wife, being forced out of the military, and dealing with his father\u2019s death.\n\nDealing with all of those challenges, particularly the death of his father, taught Scott a mental strength he\u2019d never had before. He says, \u201cI was in a hole, expecting someone to pull me out of that hole. But what I came to realize is that people were trying to give me the rope, but I had to pull myself out.\u201d\n\nScott realized he wanted to get his life and his health back on track. He eventually decided to become a Health and <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-260bbfea-4c33-4dec-be94-807ef9d3d295\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/life_coach\">Life Coach<\/span>. He enrolled in BHC and graduated in 2018. Scott launched a coaching business to help people gain different perspectives and change their mindsets.\n\nScott realized that you can\u2019t expect someone to walk into a gym and just immediately change their lifestyle without first changing their mindset. He believes Health and <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-16e568d1-ddeb-4b0d-8b12-e8a2871143a1\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/life_coach\">Life Coaching<\/span> gives people much better results than just focusing on <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-72509a79-47b4-495e-95be-2a9f070d7729\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/nutritionist\">nutrition<\/span> or an exercise plan.\n\n\u201cI can teach people to pick things up and put them down all day long; however, if that person does not have it in their mind to truly make certain habit or lifestyle changes, as soon as life throws a curveball at them...they will go right back to where there were.\u201d\n\nScott works with men specifically, because he believes men need coaches to help them break barriers down and follow their dreams. He helps his clients change their habits and mindset, and offers a 90-day Total Transformation program and a 14-Day cleanse.\n\nScott says that he\u2019s a totally different person now and lives with an \u201cattitude of gratitude\u201d, finding positivity in all situations. He is happy because he is controlling the path of his life.\n<h2>Health Coach: Rachel Beck, 2016 BHC Graduate<\/h2>\n<img class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5803 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn5.healthcoachinstitute.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/health-coach_amazing-grads-rachel-beck-225x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Rachel had a stressful career in HR, but when she experienced a sudden job change, she took time off to start walking, running, and improving her <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-2d4f3636-67ec-4ba0-bb7e-0b985df30a9e\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/nutritionist\">nutrition<\/span> to address symptoms she was suffering from Hashimoto\u2019s disease. She also took time to reflect on what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. She wasn\u2019t sure she wanted to go back to a job in HR.<\/p>\nOne day, her daughter asked her what she thought she should do when she grew up. Rachel said, \u201cWell, whatever you do, honey, I just want it to make your heart sing.\u201d Her daughter then asked, \u201cMommy, is what you\u2019re doing making your heart sing?\u201d Rachel thought, <em>Oh no! I can\u2019t answer that question!\n<\/em>\nRachel had spent months before this time transforming her own health and wellness and had seen some posts on Facebook about <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-56a8fcd0-edd5-4cf3-a8f3-ea841cc8a943\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/health_coach\">Health Coaching<\/span>. She thought, <em>Wait a minute, if I love to help other people, and I love this health and wellness stuff, what can I do with that?<\/em> So she reached out to a former colleague who works at HCI and she said, \u201cYou\u2019d be a great coach! This is so right up your alley. It\u2019s everything you\u2019ve been doing for yourself but you can pull in your HR experience. You have to do this!\u201d\n\nRachel looked into coaching programs and ultimately ended up choosing BHC. She successfully completed the BHC program and set off with her plan to coach working moms and kids. She has a client list full of busy moms and is the chair of the wellness committee at her kids\u2019 elementary school. Rachel works with clients to discover the \u201cwhy\u201d behind their motivation to make changes, then helps them focus on their goals, providing support and accountability to help them follow through.\n\nRachel has built a career that revolves around her and her family\u2019s busy life. She begins work after taking her son and daughter to school and is done by the time she picks them up. During her working hours, she works with clients and also spends time growing her business. The best part is that Rachel has time to focus on the personal things that also bring her joy. She makes time for working out and says she\u2019s much more in tune with who she is\u00a0and reconnected to her soul.\n\n\u201cThis work brings tears to my eyes. I get off my coaching calls with my clients and I\u2019ll jump up and say, \u2018I love my job!\u2019 It\u2019s really hard to call it a job because I have so much fun. What I loved about HR was that I could help people. But what frustrated me about HR was, I was helping them with performance reviews [not changing their lives].\n\nI\u2019m in the driver\u2019s seat again.
