Now let\u2019s talk about what to expect when you enroll in a DPD.<\/p>\n<h3>What to Expect When You\u2019re a Dietetics Major<\/h3>\n<p>While no program or school is exactly the same, if you enroll in a DPD, you can expect to study the same basic topics. You\u2019ll take courses in nutrition, chemistry, math, biochemistry, sociology\/psychology, and physiology, among other things.<br \/><br \/>Many DPDs are approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-14ee1356-f4fa-4217-988e-8a360f421ad6\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/nutritionist\">Nutrition<\/span> and Dietetics (ACEND), with both Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s programs available. There are two types of ACEND-accredited programs: coordinated programs in <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-ecbb0be0-27c8-470f-876f-3a78f6ab0d01\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/dietetics\">dietetics<\/span> (CP) and DPD. The main difference is that a DPD requires an internship prior to completing the CDR exam.<br \/><br \/>Completion of a DPD allows the graduate to apply for a supervised internship, which must be approved by ACEND. After the internship is completed successfully, DPD grads must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and pass the CDR registration examination. Following that, they can obtain employment, but must also continue professional development and education in order to maintain their CDR registration.<br \/><br \/>There is one other option for completing your DPD. Distance dietetics programs allow students to complete coursework remotely\u2014a great option for students who need more flexibility in their education.<br \/><br \/>A DPD enables future <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-ed7fec54-ca07-4aae-b4f8-07108e28aa4b\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/dietitian\">dietitians<\/span> to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct nutrition programs<\/li>\n<li>Conduct research<\/li>\n<li>Assist with policy development<\/li>\n<li>Work in clinical settings, universities, sports offices, wellness programs, government agencies, schools, and in private practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>How is a Dietetic Technician Program Different?<\/h4>\n<p>Dietetic Technician Programs are specifically designed for individuals who are interested in becoming a dietetic technician. Dietetic technicians work alongside registered <span id=\"urn:text-annotation-a0ab04e1-08b2-4de6-a8c5-abd63594213c\" class=\"textannotation disambiguated wl-other wl-link\" itemid=\"http:\/\/what-is.healthcoachinstitute.com\/hci\/enhancedcategory\/dietitian\">dietitians<\/span> and assist in the planning of menus for individuals and groups.
