5 Ways to Make Money and Stick to Your Health and Wellness Resolutions in 2019
Looking for some creative ways to earn some extra cash in 2019 while also furthering your health and wellness resolutions for the year? Here are five mindful ideas for making money that’ll line your pockets and make you feel good!
1. Clear the Clutter
If you’re like so many others who want to Marie Kondo their spaces this year and find new homes for unused or no longer needed items, you can actually make some good cash selling those items online.
List your unwanted, gently used, or new clothes and accessories on sites like Poshmark and ThredUp. With Poshmark, you’ll need to photograph your items, set your asking prices, and list them on their site via your own personal shop. ThredUp works a bit differently. You send them the items you want to sell, they’ll take care of listing them alongside other sellers’ items, and then they’ll offer a set payout depending on the brand and type of items sold. ThredUp offers the convenience of shipping sold items on your behalf, whereas you’ll need to ship your items to buyers directly if you choose to sell through Poshmark.
If you have furniture or other miscellaneous household items and knick-knacks you’re ready to part with, there are a number of great online selling platforms we recommend looking into. A few of our favorites are: Facebook Marketplace (you can also look up local Facebook tag sale groups in your area), OfferUp, Craigslist, and eBay.
Did you recently upgrade to a new phone? Don’t trash your old one! There are a lot of people out there willing to buy your older model to avoid shelling out mucho dinero for the latest iPhone. Sites like Orchard and Swappa will list your phone for you and pay you when it sells, while some others like Glyde and Gazelle will purchase your phone outright.
BOOKS/GAMES/CDs & DVDs
If you’ve been meaning to purge your movies, books, music, and games, sites like Decluttr and Amazon let you list and sell your items on their site and then you ship items directly to buyers once they sell.
Mindfulness Takeaway: When you clear out your space, you open yourself up for more abundance.
2. Get Moving
If you’re looking to incorporate more physical movement into your daily routine this year, we’ve got some ideas for how you can earn cash while breaking a sweat. If you happen to love dogs, you can sign up to become a dog walker through sites like Rover and Wag!—and bring a pup or two along for your daily walk or run for some extra motivation.
Not into furry friends? AchieveMint pays you just to walk…and sleep, eat healthy, and cultivate all those other healthy habits you want to do more of. It connects to fitness apps like Fitbit and MyFitnessPal, and then gives you points for specific healthy actions you take. You can then redeem those points for cash that’s directly deposited into your PayPal account or bank account of choice.
Mindfulness Takeaway: Getting outside for vitamin D, getting your steps in, and connecting with animals can bring out your playful side.
3. Spread the Health Mission
If you’re passionate about helping more people embrace health and wellness this year, you can refer your health-conscious friends and colleagues to Health Coach Institute and we’ll pay you $300 for every friend who enrolls in the Become a Health Coach program.
You don’t need to be a student or graduate of HCI to nominate your friends and family, and HCI takes the pressure off of you to do any selling. All you have to do is nominate anyone you think would be a natural fit for coaching by submitting their name and info at healthcoachinstitute.com/refer-a-friend and a member of our team will reach out to them. Your friend will even get a discount off their tuition because they came in through you.
Mindfulness Takeaway: Change the world by connecting more masterful coaches with their true calling!
4. Be of Service to Others
If your goal is to increase your service to others, why not consider becoming a part-time driver for Uber or Lyft? We don’t know about you, but we’ve actually had some real heart-to-hearts with our chauffeurs. Plus, you could actually open to the door to finding more clients for your coaching business!
Prefer some more hands-on connection? Check out Care.com for a range of service-oriented opportunities—like caregiving, pet sitting, tutoring, and more.
Mindfulness Takeaway: Now more than ever before, there is a deeper need to put down the phone, engage in human interaction, and find ways to be of service to others,
5. Share Your Expertise
Is it your goal to get yourself out there as a coach more this year and expand the difference you’re here to make? Why not consider freelance guest blogging for websites in your niche? You can find lots of opportunities to freelance by signing up for job sites like Virtual Vocations and Upwork.
Mindfulness Takeaway: There’s a multitude of ways you can share your passion and gifts with the world. Why not freelance doing something you love, like writing about health and wellness?
